About us

The University of Ha'il was founded through the Royal Decree on June 7, 2005, under the administration of Rector Khalil Bin Ibrahim Al Ibrahim with an original roster of five colleges: The College of Medicine & Medical Sciences, College of Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Computer Science & Engineering, and Community College. In the pursuit of achieving an optimal environment for learning and knowledge creation, the University of Hail continued to develop and expand by opening additional colleges with comprehensive academic programs to prepare the students for life and work, and ultimately to help meet the kingdom’s social and economic needs. Hence, in 2008, the College of Nursing for males and females (formerly known as the Department of Nursing in the Faculty of Health Sciences) was officially established with 5 different departments namely: Medical-Surgical, Maternal, and Child Health, Mental Health, Community Health, and Nursing Administration.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program of the College of Nursing was initially offered in 2008. In 2018, it obtained international accreditation from the Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS), an interdisciplinary quality assurance agency based in Germany. At present, it is in the process of seeking local accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and evaluation (NCAAA). In response to the need to cater post-graduate programs in the Hail Region, the College of Nursing launched the Master of Science in Emergency Nursing program in the second semester of the academic year 2019 – 2020. Currently, it offers two other post-graduate programs – the Master of Science in Primary Care Nursing program and the Master of Science in Adult Critical Care Nursing program.

The drive for community service

In Saudi Arabia, nurses are deemed invaluable as they make significant contributions to the healthcare industry. In meeting the challenges of a sustainable community and healthcare system development, the College of Nursing of the University of Hail continues to take the initiative in improving the healthcare workforce by generating new knowledge and skills through continuing education and research utilization. The realization of the Saudi 2030 vision is deeply rooted in bringing forth a continuous transformation in the nursing discipline that is at par with international standards. As such, the College of Nursing of the University of Hail deepened its tradition of selfless service to the community and to the kingdom at large by bringing together the best and the most brilliant nursing leaders through an international conference – an excellent networking opportunity for advancing nursing careers.

International Conference on Nursing Sciences: In retrospection

The 1st Saudi Conference for Nursing Sciences was held February 26 – 28, 2019 at the Millennium Hotel Conference Hall in Hail City. The three-day conference was spearheaded by the Dean of the College of Nursing Dr. Farhan Alshammari. The theme: “Excellence and Innovation in Nursing Profession in the Saudi Arabian Context” enjoined participants to embrace perfection through continuing developments in the nursing profession. Hence, central to the success of this conference is the realization of nurses’ understanding of their roles as researchers, educators, and practitioners in the profession. The first conference was successful in bringing in speakers outside and within the kingdom as well as gathering approximately over 500 delegates who are researchers, students, academicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to network and learn from each other. The College of Nursing of the University of Hail took pride in this triumphant event, the first-ever in the history of nursing in the Hail region.

The grand success of the first conference paved the way for a sequel in the succeeding year. Dr. Hamdan Mohammad Albaqawi, the newly appointed Dean of the College of Nursing was at the forefront. The 2nd Saudi Conference for Nursing Sciences was another milestone in the history of the College of Nursing of the University of Hail as it aimed to explore developments in the nursing industry in Saudi Arabia amid challenges in technology and innovation. Hence, the theme: "Advances in the Nursing Profession: Challenges and Opportunities" was the focus of the event. The theme is a reflection of the aim of every nurse to be relevant in the profession in the light of healthcare transformation. The conference was held on February 18-20, 2020 in the same venue.
